	LIFE WASTE: A Bio-Gas Musical
In-process since 2024

A multi-media performance made collaboratively with Valley Traction and an interdisciplinary group of performers + musicians.


LIFE WASTE began as an exploration of our good friend and neighbor Matt Steiman’s work as a live stock farmer and biogas scientist. The writings and research of an enigmatic and knowledgeable expert in the field nicknamed “Biogas Bob” (who also worked next door) became the project’s north star. We started with the idea that biogas offers an evocative and often poetic way to explore alternative energy.

The show is a live performance event that uses the process of biogas to explore alternative energy and production flows. In this work-in-progress showing, a talented group of musicians and performers guide the audience through a mix of stories, observations, and humor. It is a parable of sorts (based on real life) that asks more questions than we can answer: Where does energy come from? What else can it become? How is it part of our lives? It is the fun, complex, and often messy stuff that powers the world.In this piece, Dickinson College students, alumni, local farmers, artists, and musicians used a punk-folk-rock format create a tale of organic farmers, alternative energy and the challenges and triumphs of sustainability.

	Children Thrive With The Basics 5!
2024 
A public art exhibit at the Carlisle Family YMCA made with United Way of Carlisle &#38;amp; Cumberland County and 5 regional artists: Molly Goehring Burke, Michelle Moats, Carol Reed, Luke Gawron, and Artzbeat. The collaboration also included in an exhibit at Carlisle Arts Learning Center called “Overcoming Separateness.” Holly Cameron provided promotional graphic design.


In this public art project, five commissioned local artists play a key role in building community-wide awareness of The Basics 5, part of the United Way’s Success by 6 initiative, which encourages strong early childhood development. The Basics 5 are five simple ways that children learn and grow, and the project aims to establish visual tools for community members to identify and recall each Basics principle. This exhibit showcases five new, original artworks that visualize positive, loving interactions between caregivers and young children, and selected artists used their own lived experience to inform and create their works in a variety of artistic media.

Large-scale reproductions of the artworks were on display at the Carlisle Family YMCA during the summer of 2024. During and after this exhibit, postcards showing each piece continue to be issued by local health centers, community centers, and childcare facilities in the south-central Pennsylvania region.

	Overcoming Separateness

Companion exhibit at Carlisle Arts Learning Center&#38;nbsp;featuring contributions from Children Thrive With The Basics 5, CALC ArtWorks students, ArtLab students, and Artful Aging participants
 This collaboration got us thinking – how does this kind of interaction extend throughout our entire lives? Care and love are both complex, essential parts of living—through all stages, ages, and relationships. Five works by local artists Artzbeat, Luke Gawron, Molly Goehring, Michelle Moats, and Carol Reed were shown alongside a series of community-based artworks made by CALC’s ArtWorks, ArtLab, and Artful Aging programs. Together, these projects emphasize the importance of overcoming separateness through care and attention to one another.
